I took this photo of the Paris skyline from the view balcony atop the Notre-Dame Cathedral in France. The famous cathedral spire decorated by bronze statues of saints can be seen in the foreground, with the Seine river in the background. I reflected the image, swirled some clouds and added in swirling letters a passage from the 1831 Victor Hugo novel gThe Hunchback of Notre-Dameh: ggAdmirable, however, as the Paris of the present day appears to you, build up and put together again in imagination the Paris of the fifteenth century; look at the light through that surprising host of steeples, towers, and belfries; pour forth amid the immense city, break against the points of its islands, compress within the arches of the bridges, the current of the Seine...h For all fans of Hugo, Gothic architecture, and the City of Light.
