Description
The Dutch clover in the photo were so tiny they were being stepped on when I found them among the grass at a neighborhood temple in Japan. But their little white flowers looked so bright and resilient in the sunlight that I put my camera on the ground and took this shot. In Japan this clover is called "shirotsumekusa". The Dutch clover is a species of clover native to Europe, North Africa, and West Asia. It has been widely introduced worldwide as a pasture crop, and is now also common in grassy areas of North America and New Zealand. It is considered to be a beneficial component of organic lawn care. White clovers are part of the pea family. Next time I hope to find a four-leaf clover :)
